CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

Allie Jackson-Hing has been named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of 9/8-9/14. The sophomore wins this award for the second straight week with her impeccable play. In both of her single matches against Kean and Lehman, she beat her opponent in straight sets. Allie went undefeated for the week.

Hayley Bester has been named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week of 9/8-9/14.Bester came out victorious in her two doubles and two single encounters vs Lehman and Kean. The freshman is quickly becoming one of the team’s top players, joining Sophomore Allie Jackson-Hing as a solid 1-2 punch. She won in straight sets in all her matches.

Staten Island Dolphins (2-0 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-0 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

CSI could not have asked for a better start, especially after the news that Jean Baak, one of their key components from last year's championship team will be out this year due to injury. The Dolphins swept the week at 2-0, scoring a win over Brooklyn College and another over Albertus Magnus in the first meeting in program history between the two sides.

Lehman Lightning (0-1 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

Lehman opened the season with a 6-3 CUNYAC loss to Baruch, in a match played at Lehman, before having a match with the College of New Rochelle rained out on Saturday. This week, Lehman hosts Staten Island on Tuesday, then travels to Hunter College on Saturday.

John Jay Bloodhounds (2-1 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

The women's tennis team collected their first win of the season on Monday, September 8th. The Bloodhounds defeated Rutgers-Newark 7-2. On Friday, September 12th, the Bloodhounds shutout York College, 9-0. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.

Brooklyn Bulldogs (1-1 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis team lost its lone match of the week, falling 7-2 against CUNYAC preseason favorite College of Staten Island. BC had its second match of the week, against Albertus Magnus College, rained out . The Bulldogs will have a busy week coming up, as Brooklyn will take on John Jay (Sept 17th), Rutgers-Newark (Sept 19th) and Richard Stockton (Sept 20th).

York Cardinals (0-2 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

The Cardinals lost their first two matches under new Head Coach Gemma Alexander-Mozeak, falling to St. Joseph's College (LI) on Thursday and John Jay College Friday. The Cardinals have just have one match this week, when they visit Baruch College on Friday, September 19.

Baruch Bearcats (1-1 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (1-1 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)

The Bearcats defeated Lehman in their CUNYAC Opener and lost a narrow 5-4 contest at Kean that was halted late by rain. The team is off to a solid start with underclassmen leading the charge for Head Coach Florin Giuglescu and assistant Erika Schnaas.
