Yuliya Orkis has been named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of 9/23 - 9/29. This marks the second time that she has won the award this season. The two-time CUNYAC Player of the Year is currently leading the Bulldogs to an undefeated mark including three wins this week. The Brooklyn native began the week against Hunter's top player Jane Selegean and won 6-1, 6-1 in a highly anticipated match between two of the best in CUNYAC. In doubles play, she worked with Suraya Maenhout to take down Selegean and teammate Shena Joseph 8-4. She followed that up during a trip to the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships in which she reached the semifinal round after winning four singles matches consecutively. In the first round, the junior was pitted against Ramapo's Carly Agrifolio and won handily 6-1, 6-0. She followed that up with a 6-3, 6-1 over Robyn Baird from Skidmore. In the round of 16, Orkis faced NYU's Ashley Masanto and advanced 6-1, 6-2. She finished the weekend by advancing to the semifinals after winning 6-1, 6-0 against Mare Santos of Geneseo.
