Baruch's All-American Steven Coniglio has been named as the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April. The junior has a 3.92 GPA in Acturial Science.

For the second consecutive year, Congilio went to the NCAA with the highest GPA out of all the tournament participants. In doing so, he earned the NCAA Elite 89 Award for Men's Volleyball.

"Sports take a lot of time out of your schedule, so keeping up with classes take a lot more than most people understand," said Coniglio. "Playing volleyball really helped me de-stress and focus when weeks became overloaded with work. There is no greater passion in my life than volleyball and it helped me in April. This monthly honor means a lot to me and I hope to continue my high academic standards as classes continue to get more difficult.”

During the month of April, hit an outstanding .445 over 28 sets. He also knocked in 20 serving aces and compiled 29 total blocks. He was named the 2013 CUNYAC Player of the Year on his way to a CUNYAC Championship and NCAA Final Four appearance.

“It’s very refreshing to see an athlete get as many honors academically as Steve does athletically, that has been one of the goals here at Baruch," said Baruch Head Coach Allison Stack.
