Marvin Campbell, a Computer Science major at Bronx Community College has maintained a 3.30 grade point average and is the Hospital for Special Surgery Scholar-Athlete of the Month for May.

Campbell took a silver medal in the 800 Meters and was fourth in the 400 meters at the 2005 CUNYAC Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium on Randell’s Island on May 15.

A Dean’s List student in the Spring of 2003, the Bronx, New York native has clearly enjoyed great success in his sport of Track & Field.  After winning a silver medal in the 800 meters and a bronze medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2005 CUNY Indoor Championships, Campbell went on to place second in both events at the 2005 NJCAA Indoor District Championships.  He also was a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team that won the gold medal.  In addition, he also participated in the Indoor Nationals in the 800 and 1,500 meters.  Furthermore, he participated in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and the 400 meter relay at the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals in 2004 and has qualified for the Outdoor Nationals in the 800 meters again this season. 

Campbell has also made his mark in the community by tutoring in the Liberty Partnership Program for Disadvantaged High School Students and volunteers with the “Grand Central Partnership for the Homeless,” a program that helps serve meals to those in need.  In addition, he tutor’s his fellow teammates at Bronx Community College.
