Sandra Shamburger has been named the CUNYAC/ Emblem Health Women’s Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of 1/7-1/13. In the Cardinal’s meet against John Jay, the freshman placed first in both the 50-meter freestyle (30.02) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:26.35). In their following meet against Hunter, the Bronx native competed and finished first in the 200-meter individual medley in the time of 2:44.96. Shamburger also placed first in the 100-meter breaststroke finishing in a time of 1:27.49, making it her eighth straight individual event victory. The first year swimmer for York has not lost an individual event since November 19th, making it four meets without an individual event loss.
