Julie Sung has been named the CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week of 1/7-1/13. This is the second straight week and fourth time of the 2012-2013 season the junior has been rewarded this honor. In the Bearcat’s victory over Hunter College, the Flushing native set two new school records in the 100-meter (1:02.78) and 200 meter (2:18.37) freestyle. Also in this contest, Sung led off the first place 200-meter freestyle relay in which they finished in 1:44.96. In Baruch’s win over John Jay, the junior set another school record in the 100-yard butterfly finishing first in a time of 1:04.03. Sung now has the school record for all of the 100 distance events for backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle. The junior captain’s dominance has led the Bearcat’s to their fourth straight season as CUNYAC regular season Women’s Swimming and Diving Champions.
