Zachary Merced has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Male Athlete of the Week for the second time. The Tiger ran in the Region XV Men’s Cross Country Championship at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY. The sophomore finished 1st overall out of 40 of the region’s best runners with a time of 28:59.7. His mile pace of 5:48 would give him a nearly seven second lead over his next closest opponent by the end of the race. His effort would help Queensborough finish 2nd at the regional championship with 36 points, just one point behind Champion Suffolk.
