Flushing,  N.Y. – For the month of September, Kingsborough Community College’s Vlasta Saforova has been named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Community College Scholar-Athlete of the Month. Saforova plays Women’s Volleyball for the Wave and has become a significant piece in her short time.
Although this is her first season with the team, she has been named co-captain by her coach.

“Vlasta is a great overall player;” said Coach Watson. “She is a vocal leader and works hard both on and off the court.”

The Azerbaijan native compiled 39 kills, 17 assists, 22 serving aces, and 84 digs in 23 sets played for the month. Her 0.96 serving aces per set is particularly impressive as it ranks her 13th in the nation. The Physical Education major’s dedication is what sets her apart both on and off the court. Her impressive 3.93 GPA is certainly one to admire.
