For the start of the 2012 baseball season, Stanley De La Cruz starts it off with a CUNYAC/Applebee’s Community College Athlete of the Week award. The sophomore from the Bronx hit an outstanding .714, compiling six RBI’s, six runs, three doubles and two stolen bases. In the first double header of the week, De La Cruz went 2 for 5 with four RBI’s, two runs and a double in losing effort against the ASA Panthers. The shortstop was key to the Panther’s success in the second doubleheader of the week against Bergen Community College. In the first game De La Cruz was excellent at the plate going 4 for 5 with a double, two RBI’s and two runs scored. In the second game he led BMCC to their first victory of the week batting 1.00 (4-for-4) with two RBI’s, two runs and another double.
