At the start of the season freshman Jaeivonnte Wright has not only been named CUNYAC Community College Con Edison’s Women’s Athlete of the week but also NJCAA Division III women’s basketball player of the week. In Hostos’ 3-1 week Wright was placed first in scoring, 13th in rebounding and third in steals in NJCAA Division III Women’s basketball. The 5-foot-9 guard registered her first double-double of the season in the 61-56 win over against Rockland Community College (Nov. 8). The freshman scored a total of 31 points with 12 rebounds and two steals. Wright registered another double-double the following game against Sullivan County Community College (Nov. 10). The Seward Park Campus alum had 39 points with another 12 rebounds, six steals and five assist. Against County College of Morris (Nov. 15) Wright scored 34 points with 11 rebounds in the 65-62 win. In Hostos’ lone loss of the week, Wright shot 5-for-12 on the field and pulled down four rebounds in a losing contest against Westchester Community College.
