For the third time this season Julia Sung has been named the CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week after five first place victories in the Bearcats’ two-conference win week. In the 108-58 victory over Lehman (Jan. 9) Sung finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2.09.04 and 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.84. The junior followed this performance with another three first place victories in the matchup against John Jay (Jan 15.) Sung had first place finishes in the 200-meter medley relay (2:16.59), 200-meter IM (2:41.94), and 100-meter breaststroke (1:24.18). With these two victories the Bearcats’ finish their CUNYAC regular season undefeated for the third consecutive year. They’re current overall season record is 8-3, one win away to tie their all-time record for most wins in a season (9-5 in 2007-08).
