Winston Douglas earns the top player of the week nod following Medgar Evers’ 2-1 week with key wins against nationally ranked Oswego State (#22) and conference opponent Lehman. Over the week the forward averaged 23.3 points and 13.7 rebounds shooting 57.1% (24-42) on the field, 47.4% (9-19) from the beyond the arc and 59.1% at the free throw line (13-22). The junior scored 23 points in the 73-68 win over Oswego State (Jan. 9) shooting .533 (8-for-15) on the floor and went 2-for-6 at the three and knocked down five of his nine free throw shots. Douglas also pulled down 11 rebounds, two steals and two assists. He went on to record yet another double-double performance in a losing contest against York (Jan. 11). The Uniondale alum netted 16 points for the game shooting 7-for-15 on the field with 16 rebounds. Douglas shined in the Cougars’ third game of the week scoring a total of 31 points on 9-for-12 shooting on the field, 5-for-7 from downtown and 8-for-11 on the line. He also pulled down 14 rebounds, swiped two steals and had an assist.
