Medgar Evers’ Tony Sims is named player of the week following the Cougars’ impressive wins over Albertus Magnus and Ramapo College. The sophomore guard shot 8-for-13 (.615) for the week helping the Cougars’ extend their win streak to four. Handing Albertus Magnus’ first loss of the season, the Holy Trinity alum scored a total of 20 points shooting 5-for-8 on the field (.625), 4-for-6 in three pointers (.667) and 6-for-8 (.750) on the free throw line. Sims also grabbed three rebounds and had two steals on the defensive end in the 95-93 win. Sims followed that performance scoring his career high of 27 points with seven assists in the 93-88 win over Ramapo College (Dec. 9). He shot 7-14 on the field, 4-for-7 beyond the arc and was perfect on the free throw line (9-9). Sims currently leads his team with 21 three-point shots made.
