In his first time participation in ECAC competition, this week’s rookie of the week, Yury Zimarev help set two ECAC records and merited two B-cut qualifiers for the Nationals in March. The freshman from Russia started off the event with a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 50.17, a full second ahead of his next competitor and less than a second off of the ECAC record set by former Dolphin Nikolay Shevchenko in 2008. Zimarev went on to set a new CSI record in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.25 and third place finish. The Olympic Reserve alum also participated in the 200 yard freestyle relay in which he placed second with 1.27.73 and 100 yard freestyle where he placed ninth (48.48). The rookie was also a part of the first place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1.32.77), and the 400 medley relay (3.23.73).
