The City College of New York women’s soccer ace Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade praised for her contribution for the period spanning from Monday, October 3rd through Monday, October10th with her first-ever CUNYAC/Applebee’s Player of the Week honor.
Asamoah-Wade played very well for City College during the Beavers’ 2-1 week. After CCNY’s 8-0 loss to Montclair State University on October 4th, the Nazareth Academy High School product helped the Beavers defeat John Jay College on October 8th, notching an assist in the Beavers’ 2-1 triumph over the Bloodhounds. She also netted a pair of goals as City College edged SUNY-Maritime by a score of 2-1 on October 10th. CCNY Head Coach Donald Manfria gave his thoughts on Wade receiving the praise.
“This is a nice accomplishment for Dzindzi,” Manfria said. “She has been playing a lot better lately, and it’s great to see her garner some conference recognition. Hopefully she’s only getting started, because she’s going to be a huge part of the plan moving forward this season.”
CCNY’s women’s soccer unit has won two consecutive matches heading into Friday evening’s regular season CUNYAC showdown with Staten Island. That match will take place under the lights at the No. 10 field at Randall’s Island at 7:30 pm.
