The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced City College of New York standout Samuel Nkama was named the CUNYAC / Applebee’s Player of the Week, for the period spanning from Monday, October 3rd through Monday, October 10th.

Samuel Nkama, who has been CCNY’s most potent offensive threat this year, played a huge role in helping the Beavers go 2-0 during the aforementioned span.

Back on Wednesday, October 5th, City College recorded a 4-0 win over Baruch College, who came into the match with a conference mark of 3-0-1. Then, on Columbus Day evening against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, the Nigeria native netted both of City College’s goals as the Beavers recorded an impressive 2-0 victory. CCNY Head Coach Roberto Ignaccolo gave his thoughts on the forward receiving the recognition.

“Sammy is a very dynamic presence for us,” Ignaccolo said. “He’s a difference-maker who makes everybody around him better. To see him get recognized for his hard work against Baruch and Brooklyn is truly gratifying. He’s continuing to improve, so it’ll be interesting to see how he finishes out the regular season as he takes aim at the playoffs.”

City College’s men’s soccer team has won two in a row, and three of four overall.
