CUNYAC’s Rookie of the Week was awarded to another Brooklyn College freshman, Katherine Torbov. Torbov eased through her number 2 singles flight, taking a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets win against Yusim. Playing along side sophomore captain Maria Sanz at number 2 doubles, Torbov also earned an 8-2 win over Johanna Uquillas and Sherada Bogle.
"Torbov has really impressed us so far this season," said Odetalla. "She is a strong all-around player for us and has shown how deserving she is of this award."
Making their respective collegiate debuts, Orkis and Torbov each played a vital role in helping the Bulldogs shutout conference rival, the Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY), by a 9-0 score in Brooklyn 's season opener on Friday, September 9th.
Orkis, Torbov and the rest of the BC Women's Tennis team will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, September 14th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Union, NJ to take on Kean University in a non-conference contest.
