Field Athlete of the Week

Amanda David, Medgar Evers

The junior became the first woman in the school’s history to win an event at the Colgate Women’s Games when she won the college women’s shot put event at this year’s finals, held at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn on Wednesday, February 2.  The awards ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, February 5. David won the event when she threw the shot 12.86 meters on her third of six throws.   The distance broke the Medgar Evers College women’s indoor track record for the event.  David now holds the Medgar Evers College record for the shot put in both indoor and outdoor track.  Last outdoor track season, she threw the shot 12.99 meters. A native of Carriacou, Grenada, David still holds Grenada’s junior national shot-put record, a feat she accomplished 1996.
