The fall sports season is officially here for the City University of New  York Athletic Conference. Even with  2009 ECAC Co-Player of the Year Elysee Vilsaint, up front, the  Cardinals (12-8) fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the  road at Stevens Institute of Technology, 2-0.    On Wednesday, August 30, Nick Plevritis announced his resignation as head basketball coach at Hunter College. In his last season, he led the Hawks to a 13-14 overall record, made it to the semi-finals of the CUNYAC tournament, and coached the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

Playing collegiate sports, he was a switch-hitting centerfielder in baseball, a backstroke and freestyle specialist in swimming, a javelin thrower in track and field. In the early 1960&rsquo;s at Queensborough Community College, while teaching he was asked to coach the school&rsquo;s startup sports teams in soccer, basketball and baseball.
