FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 12, 2018) - On Monday, the City University of New York Athletic Conference recognized over 350 of its student-athletes for their academic achievements in the Fall 2017 semester with a spot on the CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
In all, a total of 356 CUNYAC student-athletes earned a semester grade-point average of 3.20 or better to be eligible for the honor roll.
“This is and continues to be an awesome trend happening at CUNY. Our list of scholar-athletes grows and grows every year, indicating their awesome approach to the academic-athletic balance and the support they receive from their athletic department staff," said CUNYAC Executive Director
Zak Ivkovic.
Baruch led the four-year institutions with 45 student-athletes selected, while Hunter, John Jay and Lehman each had 44 honorees. CCNY landed the third-most student-athletes on the list with 37.
Lehman also posted the highest department grade-point average of those student-athletes honored with a 3.60 GPA. Hunter came in second with a 3.56 GPA. Baruch and Staten Island both attained a 3.55 GPA.
Kingsborough Community College led all two-year schools with 20 selections to the honor roll. Borough of Manhattan Community College followed with 17 honorees. Bronx was a close third with 16 selections.
Additionally, Kingsborough tied BMCC for the top department grade-point average of those student-athletes chosen with a GPA of 3.59.
