Staten Island's Solari & Tufano and Baruch's Flint Capture Weekly Awards

CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Player of the Week
Stefanie Solari, Staten Island
First Base-Pitcher/Junior/Old Bridge, NJ/St. John Vianney
Stefanie Solari has been named the CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Player of the Week for the week of 4/1– 4/7. The junior hit safely in seven straight games for the Dolphins. The New Jersey native had a .520 (13-for-25) batting average with 11 RBI’s, eight runs scored, three doubles, one triple and one homerun. In a doubleheader against St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn, the first baseman went a perfect 7-for-7 with one of the hits being a homerun, and recorded eight RBI’s and three runs scored.  Staten Island went 6-2 for the week to improve its season record to 10-7.
  
CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Pitcher of the Week
Nicole Flint, Baruch
Pitcher/Senior/Captain/Brentwood, NY/Brentwood
Nicole Flint has been named the CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of 4/1 – 4/7. The captain pitched in five games during the week and logged 27.0 innings. The senior allowed 15 hits (only one extra base hit), seven runs (four earned), four walks while striking out 21. The Brentwood native recorded a 1.33 ERA and went 3-2. In a win over CUNYAC opponent John Jay, Flint threw a complete game one hitter and struck out nine. Three days later in a doubleheader against Brooklyn, Flint picked up two victories and pitched a combined 12 shutout innings, allowing six hits and striking out eight. Baruch went 4-3 for the week and improved its CUNYAC record to 4-0.
 
CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Rookie of the Week
Christina Tufano, Staten Island
Third Base/Freshman/Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea
Christina Tufano has been named the CUNYAC/Applebees Softball Rookie of the Week for the week of 4/1 – 4/7. The Staten Island native hit safely in six out of eight games and recorded her first career homerun. The third baseman went 11-for-24, for a .458 batting average, and recorded nine RBI’s, seven runs scored, one stolen base and four extra base hits. In a doubleheader against St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn, the freshman hit .600 (3-for-5) with four RBI’s, three runs scored, one triple and one homerun. Staten Island improved its CUNYAC record to 4-0.
