Junior setter Nate Martin earned Player of the Week honors after leading the Lightning (12-7, 8-3 CUNYAC) to wins over York, Medgar Evers, and City Tech in conference action. Against York the Carleton, Michigan product totaled 18 kills and 20 digs in a commanding three sets to one victory. He added eight kills and 10 digs in a decisive straight set win over Medgar Evers, and concluded the week with eleven kills and four digs in an exciting five set battle with City Tech. Lehman has won four in a row and has moved into 3rd place in CUNYAC standings.

 

Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Freshman Braien Otsia won the Rookie of the Week award for the Hawks (15-7, 11-1 CUNYAC) with his remarkable play in two convincing conference wins over CCNY and Brooklyn as well as New Haven in non-conference action. Otsia notched seven kills, four digs and two aces in a straight set win over CCNY. Against Brooklyn the freshman from Brooklyn, NY tallied 11 kills and six digs in the three set-sweep. Versus New Haven, he collected eight kills and eight digs in another straight set win. Otsia and the Hawks have an arduous challenge looming this week (Tuesday, March 9 @ 6:00 pm) when they travel downtown to face conference leader and #4 ranked Baruch.
