With the completion of the semifinal round, the field is set for the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference/Con Edison Community College Basketball Championships.
The 13th annual women's championship game will be played tonight at 5:30pm, and the 23rd annual men's championship game tips off at 7:30pm. Both games will take place at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.
The top-seeded Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers (11-8, 5-1 CUNYAC) are looking to win their first CUNY Athletic Conference Women's Championship title since winning six-straight championships from 1998-2003. They face the second-seeded Queensborough Community College Tigers (8-10, 5-1 CUNYAC) who are the two-time defending champions. BMCC defeated the Kingsborough Community College Wave 42-33 in Tuesday's semifinals, while QCC defeated the Hostos Community College Caimans 74-47.
Tonight in the men's championship game, the top-seeded Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers (16-4, 7-1 CUNYAC) will face the third-seeded Kingsborough Community College Wave (9-11, 5-3 CUNYAC). BMCC defeated the Queensborough Community College Tigers 89-68 in Wednesday's semifinals, while KCC defeated the Bronx Community College Broncs 83-64.
Immediately following each championship game, the winner and runner-up teams, all-tournament team, and most valuable player award presentations will be made on the court. Both the men’s and women’s community college championship games can viewed live via web video stream, and will be taped for broadcast on CUNY-TV on Sunday, February 21st.
