The top-seeded Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers (11-8, 5-1 CUNYAC) are looking to win their first CUNY Athletic Conference title since winning six-straight championships from 1998-2003. They face the second-seeded Queensborough Community College Tigers (8-10, 5-1 CUNYAC) who are the two-time defending champions.

The Panthers knocked off the Kingsborough Community College Wave in the first game, 42-33. Guard Eyandra Molina, who finished the 2009-10 regular season as the NJCAA’s second-highest scorer, led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds on the way to being named player of the game. Latoya Lee also chipped in with 10 points and 8 assists in 40 minutes. Maycaroly Oyangoren led Kingsborough with 15 points, 19 rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block.

In the second semifinal matchup, the Tigers cruised easily to victory over the Hostos Community College Caimans, 74-47. QCC’s Olivia Strachan led all scorers with 20 points, adding five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Kiara Bryant added nine points and seven rebounds.

After the game, QCC head coach Joseph Medina said, “We are peaking and playing our best basketball right now. Right now we just want to win the CUNY Championship and head to the [Regional XV Championships] on a winning note.”

Immediately following Friday's championship game, the championship and runner up teams, all-tournament team, and most valuable player award presentations will be made. The contest precedes the 23rd annual men’s championship game which is scheduled to tipoff at 7:30pm.
