Brooklyn College Athletics announced on Friday, August 21 the hiring of Ahmad Odetalla as the head women’s tennis coach.
Odetalla will take over a program that went 10-6 a season ago and finished 3rd in the CUNYAC standings. The team features #1 singles player Ruth Perez (EBC Bushwick / Brooklyn, NY) and reigning conference rookie of the year, Olexandra Ovsiy (American / Brooklyn, NY).
“Coach Odetalla’s energy and enthusiasm are two characteristics that will allow him to flourish as a head coach,” Director of Athletics Bruce Filosa said of the hiring.
Odetalla is no stranger to Brooklyn College Athletics, as he is also a member of the women’s basketball staff, serving as an assistant coach on last year’s ECAC team that finished 19-9.
Odetalla is a Brooklyn College graduate, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Master’s degree in Sports Management. Odetalla is also entering his third year as a physical education teacher at Bedford Academy High School in Brooklyn.
In addition, Odetalla has also served as a statistician and bookkeeper for basketball, soccer and volleyball games and has interned in the Office of Sports Information.
